David Edwards was born and raised here in Ohio: growing up in Franklin and graduating high school in 1987, graduating from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication and Education in 1991. The year 1994 was an important turning point for David. This was the year he began working at Edwards Furniture, joined the Franklin Rotary Club, and married his wife, Melissa. He and Melissa have lived in Springboro with their two children ever since.
Throughout David’s career, his community has been a top priority. Besides his work with Rotary, he is a founding member of the Franklin Wildcat Foundation that is responsible for awarding scholarships to deserving Franklin High School seniors. He belongs to the Springboro Chamber of Commerce and has also served as a board member in the past. David is also an active member of the Panther Pride Committee, which honors Springboro teachers at an annual luncheon. He attends quarterly meetings of the Springboro Schools Business Advisory Committee, which addresses how the needs of local businesses can be met through the high school curriculum.
At Edwards Furniture, David’s main focus has been informing the public about all of the services and products the store has to offer through advertising and social media and has doubled their commercial business. He has also joined Nationwide Marketing Group and serves on their business advisory board; this affiliation continues to be a valuable resource for the business.
In his 25th year at Edwards Furniture, David became President of the company, marking the third generation to take the helm. The roots he has spread in his community are the foundation for the heights he will continue to take his family business.
In 1945, (I was three years old) my parents Mildred & Bill Edwards, decided downtown Franklin, OH needed a furniture store. Our family home was close enough that many of my early memories were at the store. In fact a family story is when asked what I had been doing my answer was "just working." Upon reaching my teens, I was truly working with deliveries, opening furniture cartons and cleaning the shop. Even then, I felt this business would be my future.
I attended my father’s alma mater college prep high school in Central Kentucky and graduated from University of Cincinnati with a degree in Retail Management. In 1963 after graduation, I began my official employment at Edwards Furniture, Inc. My wife, Suzanne & I where married the same year and are proud parents of two sons Mark & David and two granddaughters Melanie & Madeline Edwards. In some way, the whole family has served in one capacity or another. That is a family business for sure.
My parents were visionary with the decision to build and open our current store location in 1963. It was then a 50 acre corn field just a ¼ mile off of I-75. Many thought my parents were making a huge financial and logistical error. Today, their business decision proves to have been an important factor in our continuing in business for 56 more years in the current location.
Unfortunately, my mother passed away from cancer in 1969 when I became President of the business. My father continued to be a part of the business on a part-time basis until close to his death at the age 95. In 1994 our son David, current President of Edwards Furniture, Inc., joined our family business. I personally am very proud to work with David and appreciate the current business perspective he brings to company. Third generation businesses are certainly fading from the business community today.
My Franklin – Carlisle Rotary Club membership has been a wonderful opportunity to serve area communities and meet like minded civic leaders. I have served my club in leadership roles and have served our 52 club District as Governor in the year 2008-09. I currently serve on Rotary International’s Zone Leadership team which incorporates 13 states.
The Edwards family has been fortunate to have valued employees throughout these 74 years. We certainly appreciate our customers and communities for giving us the opportunity to serve them with their home decorating needs.
Director of Business
Robert has been in the furniture business for over 29 years holding sales, management and operation positions with large and small retailers. He’s managed single and multiple store operations. One of the locations was 250,000 square foot furniture, appliance and electronics retail operation with sales of over 6 million dollars per year. Robert joined Edward’s team as Director of Business in 2015. He partners with owner and staff to assist in managing sales, sales analysis, sales support, strategic planning, advertising, and merchandising. Robert engages with vendors and product specialist to ensure the customer is receiving the most current and accurate information regarding styles, trends, features and benefits in the industry. He focuses along with his sales team on creating a relaxed, fun and enjoyable shopping experience. Robert’s business philosophy is "Service above self."
Administrative Assistant for Edwards Furniture, has been keeping the Edwards men in line since 1996. Becky has been a lifelong resident of Franklin, Ohio. The youngest of 6 children, Becky graduated in 1981 from Franklin High School and the Warren County Career Center. Becky is the mother of 3 kids and has 6 grandchildren. She enjoys spending time with her family and vacationing in Florida.
Regina has 16 years experience in the home furnishings and flooring business with an emphasis on coordinating various groupings. Regina can turn an ordinary room into a warm and welcoming area while keeping to your personal style.
Hello, my name is Sue Jackson and I am a Sales Specialist with Edwards Furniture. I started at Edwards in February, 2017 and I had been in the Furniture Industry for forty-three and a half years prior to coming to Edwards. My family owned and operated Coomer Furniture in Lebanon, Ohio from 1972 through 2015. Joyce O’Neill was born and raised in Lemon Township Ohio, married and lived in Cincinnati Ohio for many years. Where she worked in real estate with her brother in law.
She has 20+ years in Office Administration and 5+ years’ experience in sales.
